Spring, 2020: “War of the Worlds”

Director, Glenn Calloway

Auditions for War of the Worlds

The Hot Springs Village Players are excited to announce the production of War of the Worlds, the famous H.G. Wells radio drama that frightened America’s radio audiences on Halloween eve in 1938. The dramatic voice of Orson Welles brought the Martians right into everyone’s living room which created panic on the streets, in the press, and even changed some FCC rules about broadcasting.

“Auditions for War of the Worlds” radio drama will be at the Coronado Community Center on Saturday, January 25 from 10:00 AM till 2:00 PM and Sunday, January 26 from 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM in Rooms 1 and 2. Whether you are an experienced or aspiring actor or just curious, you are invited to attend the audition.

We will recreate the mystery, confusion, and fright with authentic  sound effects and actual dialogue from the original show. Performances will be at the Coronado Community Center in Hot Springs Village on March 27, 28 and 29, 2020 with dessert & coffee. There are several male and female roles where you can read the entire script at: http://www.sacred-texts.%2Ccom/ufo/mars/wow.htm

Rehearsals will begin in early February and will continue until the production dates. Directing the play will be Glenn Calloway, Director of our Old Time Radio show last year. Glenn came to us from California where he starred in many plays, directed many more, and coached Hollywood actors.
